MOG MOG

WHERE E=MC HAMMER

Through the blizzard of music we are experiencing, it is difficult for a song to stick with ya and achieve timelessness. For me, a song has to arouse a strong emotion in me to achieve that. Stone Roses' I Wanna Be Adored is one of the songs that has my eternal dedication. It doesn't even matter if it's about a certain popular arch fiend, insecurity, megalomania, redemption, fragility, the need to be loved, or all the above; either way you look at it, all that matters is how emotionally-charged it is. To me it will always be one of the greatest indie anthems of all time. Long before Ian Brown's cheekbones got too sharp for his own good, he made other people's cheekbones tremble.

Trembling. Every single time.

Hey, Loviegreeneyes! :* It's a pleasantly melancholic rainy day here, can you tell? :)

I'd throw Everything Counts (you got that one for us yesterday); or Somebody... but this one is so visceral, so raw, so "in tune" with life that it is my forever timeless song. Even though I was too young to really _GET_ the song when I first listened to it... boy oh boy do I get it now !!!! So... You're Wanting Adoration & I am wanting to see all y'all _STRIPPED_.

It's a rainy one here as well - with a lovely bite in the air - Autumn is making its presence know I guess :)

Still - I _adore_ that song... Ahhhhhh The Stone Roses & Depeche Mode on a rainy Thursday... now if only we were close enough to listen to them & watch from the inside - fire glowing & alcohol flowing freely - might even have a smoke with you - just cuz ;)

HOLY F-ing crap! I just dialed up the Stone Roses S/T on my Zune as it has been a while since I have heard it. (about a week) Anyways, by the time I sat at my computer the chorus for I Wanna Be Adored was already playing. I then hit refresh on my emails and saw this post and just about fell off of my chair in disbelief when I saw the MOG notification for this post of yours.

But yes, this is a timeless song on a timeless record. I can not argue with any praise this song or record gets as it is a perfect record. PERFECT. Or in honor of your avatar PURRfect.

I also love your line in regard to Ian Brown's sharp cheek bones.

... Still M*, you've got a stellar line in: _"as it has been a while since I have heard it. (about a week)"*_

thanks Lizzie. To say that I adore or that I am obsessed with this record is a severe understatement.

I've been thinking about the debut from The Stone Roses recently, as it's one of the albums that I had to catch up to, after being music-less most of my mission. I vividly remember playing the CD, having never heard any of their songs, and being blown away as this song burst forth from the speakers. What a marvelous track! It's really the perfect statement of purpose for the band.

Yeah, I got chills listening to it again just now. Thanks for the reminder.

It IS a perfect album - no question on that one...

They are Supreme Rulers of Rock in my book - timeless & genius !!!

Gosh, Lizzie, ST & DM makes the rain look like liquid neon. A perfect musical combination! Thank you, thank you. And maybe we can add this to the mix:

Autumn took a Raincheck this year here, but it did manage to eventually arrive :) I'd love for us to get our autumns mood on! No smoking for you, young lady (the guilt might kill me), but if you can handle my own smoke, you're my precious NFF (neon friends forever)!

Mike, that's eerie. That, or the fact that I'm lovingly observing you with a telescope finally started to pay off :) I concur to this album PURRfection. Thank you, glad you liked it. You are the biggest ST fan I had the pleasure of getting to know, so coming this from you, it means oh so much. _the pleasure, the priviledge is mine_ :)

Dale, yup. I cannot understand how someone might not feel it to his/her core. I have a post it reading: note to self: don't forget to tremble today :) Happy to be of chilling assistance :)

I am a little surprised you still consider me a friend after lovingly viewing me with a telescope. Are you not disturbed with the things you have seen?

Me with my type greenpositive liquid neon coursin through my veins & _(what is your color neon luv)_ ... well, of course we'll be NFF !!!

That was the PURRRRFECT song for my miata - top down - autumn night with the crescent moon & stars a plenty... & believe me when I say that it was a frequent happening for me - ahhhhh how I love this song - the melancholy of Morrissey's lyrics paired with the genius of Johnny Marr...

May I just say... & this will be my post today... that the bands from that time - for me they are just as brilliant as they were & I know they will be for my life... The Stone Roses, NO, JD, DM, The Smiths, The Cure, E&tB, PF, OMD, Pixies... that whole gang still bring me to my knees and for as many songs as I can think of in each of their catalogues... not a bad one in the bunch.

Let's see, what shall I now bring to the table for you...

& this one just cuz I had it in my head this morning... shush - keep it down now=

Mike, I'm also watching Kevin. Compared to him, you're an angel!

Fluxy, agreed!

My neon blood colour is purple fo sho! Like I always say, you can get over men, but bands? Not so much. hehehe Ah ye....Cure for cure... Possibly my favourite JD song (for the moment, at least...):

I'm so melancholy high :)

I think your getting enough adoration Anna. I'm cutting you off! :)

When I was in Dublin around this time last year there was a Stone Roses cover band that was playing a concert. It was a big deal. The tickets were around $40 I think and the posters were all over town. The band is awesome but how worked up can you get over a cover band? Great video btw.

OMG there's more than one. I was thinking of The Complete Stone Roses. That's wack yo. I like Clone Roses though. That's a better name.

I'm gonna make a post called "Anna Ties Her Shoe" and see if I get anywhere near the responses you get. I'm glad there was a song backing this up, because I was gonna say even your post "I've got hiccups" got like 50 response and 17 people liked it. Now where could I find a song called "anna ties her shoe"...

:)

Yeah, compared to Kevin I am a saint. I suppose it is easy to spy on me since you only have to adjust your telescope a little as I only live about 5 miles from Kev.

Thank you for mixing it up, Mark!

Wow, Sam, I thought we meant the same one. There's two?! They will take over the world soon.

Oh yes, Mike, I don't even have to try much to be deviant :)

contrabandwidth, I'm gonna sue you for slander, I've never posted about my hiccups. ;P You know, I know you're joking, but to be honest, it's comments like this one that made me take occasional MOG breaks in the past. Luckily, I have a thick skin now.

Wow Contra I don't know about "anna ties her shoes" but Allmusic Guide has 170 songs listed that are named "Anna".

Mike: ::hanging head in shame as I slowly back away from the keyboard:: _(almost inaudible)_ oops, sorry - my bad.

Anna: JD wrote that song bout me... you knew that, _right_ ?

Sam & Anna: There were tons of posters round Cork & Dublin when I was there last year - wished I had been able to go see one of them perform... sadly it was not in the cards... the cards offered up the Electric Picnic where I was able to see: NO, Massive Attack, dEUS, The Frames, Damien Rice, Mundy, Bloc Party, PJ Harvey, Rufus Wainwright, Delorentos, Mogwai, David Kitt, ... aw heck... HERES THE _FULL_ LINE UP

Tyler: It's cool - we care when you tie your shoe as well ;)

& Mike: _ANYONE'S_ a saint compared to Kevin... even me ;)

Oh, Anna, dear...you know if there's one place that you're adored, it's here at Mog. In my case it's only because Chucky isn't around, so my adoration falls on you as second goddess of Mog, but...love is love. Take it where you can get it.

Nice tune, by the way. ;)

Anna, if you ever take anything I say seriously (even if I'm being serious) I would say your giving me too much. Surely all teh Muse haters have toughened up yer skin more so than smart asses like me.

Cheers! I think this post makes it 40 responses.

Lizzie, I've heard such a rumour ;) Awesome line up!

Troy, that's exactly why Ashley will stay locked up in my basement for a looooong time still ;) You bring out the worst in women ;P

Well, Tyler, don't worry. Your comment is just the cherry on the cake. I'm not angry or anything. When people say those things, most of them say it humorously, but that doesn't mean that it's not what they feel. You don't really think that I feel comfortable when people humourously or seriously say that I'm popular even if I post about nothing. The thing is that other people pay more attention to my popularity than I do. To me, it's a simple thing. I'm nice to people and respectful towards them and give them much, so people are nice to me. That's all. You get what you give.

Also, there are Muse haters on MOG?! I have to sharpen my claws... ;)

True. True. Unfortunately, commenting lacks the ability to insert a tone, so I am relegated to the cursed emoticon/smiley, which I hate, but I've lost a few moggers here and there with my sarcasm. Sure, there is truth in humor, but I always find it's a nicer way to (passive aggressive, perhaps?) to say what you may be feeling. Your definitely the one of the top posters, next to Blair I think, and I enjoy your posts. Try as I might, I can't elicit near the responses you get. This isn't sour grapes, just fact. But it's a nice goal to work for. I love how mog is pushing me in my writing and expanding my tastes in music. It's like a friendly competitive thing - that's what I love about it.

...and I have you to thank for my interest in Muse, btw... So put a check next to my name in your EMCD list .

Love this Anna. So glad to know you love The Stone Roses too! Such a ballsy statement they make w/this. Such a crime they weren't more popular since their record co. wouldn't let them out of their contract & kept them in litigation up to their ears for the next 5 years. I have both of their proper albums as well as their "The Complete Stone Roses". I think"Second Coming" is every bit as great as their debut. If you don't have it you should get it. I know a certain someone who could post it on M for you if you'd like.

Love these guys, too. For a while there, I listened to "Fools' Gold" so much that I grew weary of it. (Just kidding.) But I always thought the refrain on this one sounded like "I wanna be a dog!" As if they were channeling Iggy and the Stooges...
