Boris has spent most of the last 2 years involved in Altar - the ritual collaboration with Sunn O))) - and thus has put their own music on hold. The trio recently went back into the studio to record as Boris again and the result will be available soon. Residents and visitors of the Haight/Golden Gate Park area of SF should make some effort to secure fragile objects and batten down what needs secured on October 14th. Southern Lord announced that there has been a change of venue for the Sunn O))) and Boris show on May 5th in Brisbane, AUS :
Due to the Columbian losing their license for live music, the May 5 Sunn/Boris show has now moved to the QUT GUILD BAR, Gardens Point All pre-purchased tickets for this show are valid at the new venue Doors open at 8pm Apologies for the inconvenience!!anyone know why the Columbian lost their license for live music? that sucks...

Japanese drone gods Boris team up with power electronics/noise legend Merzbow to produce an amazing cover of the beatles classic "I am the Walrus".
The "Walrus/Groon EP" (that used to be sold at Boris shows) is out on Hydra Head Records

I've heard it through the rumor mill that Boris will be playing a free show this year at SXSW. It is just a rumor, but this looks like a good year with: Stooges, Entrance, Reigning Sound (w/ Mary Weiss?), Danava, and many others. The partial list is up at sxsw.com if anyone is interested. i dont know how many of you have checked out the new album by boris, but if you havent and youre into stoner rock then you definitely should. the beginning track, "parting", makes a very nice introduction to the record...starts off with only 2 guitar notes and then escalates into this beautiful colossus of noise that travels at the speed of a heartbeat. when i first heard it, i fell into a daydream and wandered off into the song for a while and then BAM, the next song blas... I love Boris. I love Important Records. A pairing of the two should be a no brainer equaling a great product and experience for the record collecting public right? Holy shit.
