So, in my downloading obsession with Radiohead, I've come across several of these "string tribute albums." I know lots of other really random bands (hello, Simple Plan) have had their albums put through these silly "string machines," but to be honest, as easy as it is to make fun of these albums, I have a shady love for them. But this is based solely on the fact that they are interpreting Radiohead....and that there's really no black and white, one simple way to go abo... MORE
As a youngster, I would always ask myself hypotheticals like "if you had to marry Paul or John, who would you pick?" or "who would you rather write a song about you Elliot Smith or Jeff Buckley?" It was always fun to imagine that the above events would occur and that I had the power to choose one over the other. Needless to say, Paul and Elliot would probably win. Today, while musing over the current music scene and typing up an interview, I ask myself another hypothetica... MORE
I just can't get enough of the new Radiohead video. Made with lasers, it presents a beautiful view of what our world looks like on a different wavelength. I find myself flip-flopping between succumbing to the match of imagery and music, and wondering how much of it is accident. The way the image breaks up around the edge of Thom Yorke's head; what look like interference patterns on his face; the collapse in parts of the exterior scenes; are these intentional? Not that it m... MORE
Last week MrFrost let us know Radiohead shot a camera-less video. Here it is..if you were like me and wondered what it would look like to make a video using a hell of a lot of lasers and structured light. This is one of my favorite songs off that album, and the video is pretty excellent. I just got a couple of their From the Basement videos as an itunes gift so I'm on a Radiohead kick...again. Amnesiac is still one of my favorite albums of theirs. I haven't seen them sinc... MORE
The new Radiohead House of Cards video was made entirely without cameras ... just lasers. What do you think? Brilliant or simply a lot of hype?
I think it's awesome.
I think it's awesome.
Radiohead recently completed a video for their song "House Of Cards" without the use of video cameras. The movements of Thom Yorke and the actors cast in the video were captured by structured light and lasers. Large scenes were filmed by using the Velodyne Lidar process, which used sixty four lasers shooting 900 times per minute. Close up scenes were captured by structured light. All of this "footage" will be made available to fans online so they can compile a music vi... MORE
The music world is getting slaphappy with vinyl. Only yesterday Mogger Mollifire wrote about Best Buy resurrecting LPs in their stores. Now Capitol/EMI will reissue albums from Radiohead and Coldapy and more in the format August 19th in a series called "From the Capitol Vaults." (wonder how Radiohead feels about Capitol banking on these?)Expect the suckers to be covered in their original artwork and re-mastered on high quality polymor -- 12-inch records will get stamped... We're really proud of some things on Melophobe. One of my favorites is the Radiohead concert videos we made at St. Louis since security allowed us to use a camera.
I think I'll try to erase the last couple of days from my memory. They have mostly consisted of vile sickness, stomach cramps, coughing and me frequently asking my husband to "just shoot me now!". Nope, I wasn't at Glastonbury, I have had a virus and a summer cold, one after the other. Today is the first time I have felt like blogging. Now, if you ever have the misfortune to loose your voice or are too shy to talk to someone using your own voice (?) why not try the voi... MORE

Radiohead singer Thom Yorke has admitted he suffered from a bout of nerves ahead of the UK leg of the band's world tour, reports the BBC. The group played the first of four dates in England and Scotland on Tuesday night(June 24), headlining an outdoor show at Victoria Park in east London. Towards the end of the evening, Yorke admitted he had been "terrified" ahead of the huge outdoor shows, which are the band's largest in Britain for a number of years. He also thanked t... MORE
Radiohead is releasing their most recent basement tape footage via iTunes. Ten videos of tracks from Radiohead's In Rainbows, originally recorded at The Hospital studio in Covent Gardens for the band's longtime producer Nigel Godrich's 'From the Basement' TV series (http://www.fromthebasement.tv/), will be released. If you purchase the video collection iTunes throws in a bonus CD included with the album's deluxe disc box. These videos are major since Godrich helms the soun... MORE
