MOG MOG

WHERE MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY

(57)

Caught them at the same venue last year and they've really taken it up a notch since then. New drummer is a finesse machine, laying a hypnotic backdrop, never overplaying or overhitting. And utility guy moved from bass, to guitar to keys seemlessly, really helping to fill out the sound.

Great rock show, the songwriting just keeps getting better, and the juxtaposition of the acoustic/harmonica numbers from the last record and some of the moodier harder numbers provides a wonderful diversity of sounds and styles to dig into.

At different points, I felt like I was watching velvet underground, brian jonestown massacre, tom petty, cheap trick, and dylan. They varied between a melange of moody, bluesy, rootsy, and power pop vibes.

They had the crowd swaying and cheering something mad and I rarely see that in cooler than though NYC.

I dig this tune off of the new album. A nice combo of the mellower, rootsy and the more rocking moody. Sounds like evolution to me.

I've been wondering what the new album is like. Have been listening to a covermount track from the last album but never got to the rest of the album. If this track here is representative it's time to get out the wallet. Evolution indeed.
