Artist: Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band Album: Horses In The Sky Track:

[Thee Silver Mount Zion - Mountains Made of Steam (00:09:28)]

If someone asked me what's the deal with Thee Silver Mount Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La-Band (a.k.a. A Silver Mt. Zion, Thee Silver Mt. Zion and The Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-La-La Band with Choir - good lord, give them a prize for "band with most variations of the name") so-called post-rock sonority, I'd say it's a post-rock band deep bounded with punk-rock & neo-classical music, subliminally built on Minimalism and American folkways. But when it comes to describe how I feel about their music... I'm afraid that's a question impossible to be answered in a few words:

Every time I listen to one of their records (specially the instrumental ones) I inevitably freeze and lose the notion of time/space. I feel overwhelmed by this ethereal sorta thing and the most beautiful images flow through my mind.

"Mountains Made of Steam" in particular, is quite the piece that makes me wander through a field of trains - I've always loved trains & locomotives, and I wonder if I subconsciously make a logical association with the title of the song, or if there is another meaning (implicit or not).

PRR No. 6797, Class M1a - Mountain(4-8-2) type.

PRR No. 2304, Class N2sa, Santa Fe (2-10-2) type.

---

Well, I hope you're all distracted with this combination and miss what I'm about to say. I know there's a lot that I could say (believe me, I have a journal filled with thoughts and a pile of albums which I would love to write its reviews and share with you here...), but apparently time isn't on my side... And as much I'd love to stick around with you guys, I can't. You're all freaking sweet (pretty much the cyber family I never had), and that's what makes it hard to let go of this... I'm sorry.

Farewell;

boo·ty 1 n. pl. boo·ties

1. Plunder taken from an enemy in time of war.

2. Goods or property seized by force or piracy. 3. A valuable prize, award, or gain.

[Middle English botye (influenced by bote, advantage), probably from Middle Low German büte, exchange.]

.

boo·ty 2; also boo·dy n. pl. boo·ties also boo·dies

1. Slang The buttocks.

[African American Vernacular English, from obsolete Black English booty, body, perhaps alteration of body.]

But what makes a booty bootiful... and why do booties have the propensity to be shaken to the sound of some music?

Professor Marta Robertson (from the Gettysburg Colllege's Department of Music) said: "...people dance for various reasons, including the expression of national, political, local, gender, or sexual identities, religious beliefs, or for just plain fun."

Aside the implicit sexual message, I'd say shaking some booty sells out like peanut butter & jelly sandwiches being so damn... delicious.

Diggin' the booty discourse..Of course I'm usually shaking my booty to express my national and political identity. My nation is under a groove and I'm I member of Uncle Jam's Army. I salute you.

Look up Vida Guerra if you want to talk about booty. Besides Kelly Rowland is much better looking than Beyonce on her best day.

Is it me or avenge through Funk-Fu is getting quite popular 'round here? Sadly the last one wasn't about avenging the death of some funky sister - honestly, I wouldn't mind being stabbed in the back a dozen times by some bad-ass ninjas... it's the least one can do when a brother posts Rufus Thomas as an attempt to summon the soul of his beloved sister back to MOG.

Anyway... I feel like I owe you all an apology for being a bit absent and lost; Unfortunately, time hasn't been on my side and there's just so many things to do (and a lot of head-aches too).. But hey, Thank God It's Friday! Remember Friday ain't truly Friday if it ain't Funky! So open up those ears cuz here comes some Bad Medicine - a guarantee to cure the illness of the soul - Caution: It may set the buttocks of the disbelievers on fire. (The track sorta sums up a day of trespassing private property, hence the title - but that's another story.)

So, in case your booty gets all toasted... May I suggest resting thee hiney for about 5 minutes inside this adorable green fridge? Note: Merche Romero not included.

May the Funk be with you!
