I love public television. And specifically a program called Austin City Limits. I credit this show for instilling in me a love and admiration for the great Sufjan Stevens and the amazing Chan Marshall. I don’t consider myself a huge music junkie so I watch to be educated and have yet to be disappointed by its selection of musicians.
That said, a while ago on the show there was a guy who looked to me like Snoop Dogg wearing high-waisted pants, suspenders, and an acoustic guitar. I was intrigued.
It was Amos Lee:
Couldn't find video of the ACL performance, so here's Amos playing Keep it Loose, Keep it Tight on Live from Abbey Road

My Trusted MOGs
I did pretty much the same thing. My TiVo recorded that version of ACL and I kept it because a friend had put some John Prine on a mix CD he made for me. So, I watched to see what that guy looked like and hear some other songs. Pretty intriguing. But when Amos came on, I was floored. I loved the whole set and was really taken with him, watching the show a few times, actually. I was bummed to find out that "Night Train" wasn't on his first CD, but love that it's on "Supply and Demand".
Always good to find another Amos fan. :)
