Let's not forget Mr. Wayne Kramer of MC5 fame. I've never heard of his Air Raid, but it definitely sounds promising.
So I'm in the midst of a project at work that has me digging through Minneapolis newsweekly archives from the 80's. I've been coming across some pretty incredible concert and club ads. I'll be posting them here. They are so, so good. Here's a small start, from City Pages in 1982:

wish i could have gone but being 7 and all, it would have been tough! i would love to see more of these, this one is fantastic. there should be some official archive of this kind of thing or am i just a nostalgic ratpack?
