Well it's happened! And while I was in my birthday suit no less. Oh the humanity. I find that nudity is probably the best thing in the world. It just started out as something in my house. Then I started taking out the trash naked and getting the mail naked. Finally I started going to the store and going to work and the community seemed to welcome their nudist comrade. Boy was I wrong. It seems the community was fed up and hired this crack commando deg5000. I don... MORE
Word of advice: if you want an idea of what heaven will be like, go see Alejandro Escovedo because his shows are heaven on earth. I've only been to two, but I promise you the man does not have off nights. As soon as he hits that stage he is on, he is in charge, he will kick your ass, and you will love every minute of it. He is one of the most gifted and exhilarating musicians I have ever had the privilege of seeing. The first time I saw him was at a dank hole in the wall ... MORE
Country Music Telvision (CMT) is getting into the TV movie business. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jeff Bridges and Robert Duvall will all star in the country music drama, "Crazy Heart." T Bone Burnett, the composer and producer who made a splash at the Grammys in 2001 with the music composed for "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," will be writing the film's original music and soundtrack.
The plot focuses on an unlucky and downtrodden, alcoholic country music singer (Bridges) who att... MORE
I'll try and play. I've tried the 70s funk with moderate success, mostly through the Funk Box 4 CD collection. It doesn't always take with me, but when it does (with a classic like Express Yourself as a perfect example - would you call that funk?) it really takes. And this guy has taken me since my very first exposure to him on the Blues & Soul Bible (Games People Play). Ever since I have been trying to complete his discography. It's hard. He had more than his s... MORE
I walked into my sisters house and this was blasting on the sound system "So what is it about?" I asked She said, well, Graham said " Hieronymus Bosch was a Flemish artist from the whatever century whose most famous work (a triptych), "The Garden Of Earthly Delights," is on display at the Prado museum in Madrid. I've always been in awe of his work and not long after visiting the Prado and witnessing his paintings up close, I composed the song. I was merely attemptin... MORE
Loud bar music makes people drink more, faster: study CHICAGO (Agence France Presse) Blame the DJ: loud bar music makes people drink more and drink faster, a study released Friday has found. "Previous research had shown that fast music can cause fast drinking, and that music versus no music can cause a person to spend more time in a bar," said Nicolas Gueguen, a professor of behavioral sciences at the Universite de Bretagne-Sud in France, and corresponding author for the... Paul Simon sues Japanese clockmaker for using song NEW YORK (Reuters) - Singer and songwriter Paul Simon sued a Japanese clockmaker for $5 million for copyright infringement on Friday claiming the company used one of his songs as a composition on their clocks. Simon's lawyers accused clock company Rhythm Watch Co Ltd, and its U.S. subsidiary Rhythm USA Inc of using Simon's song Bridge Over Troubled Water on 40,000 of its clocks in the last three years without his permiss... I couldn't help but to notice that this week, the same week their new 'music label' issued a compilation disc from Sonic Youth, that Starbucks had to close 600 more stores. I have a feeling that in some New York City basement Kim, Thurston, and Lee are rocking out and totally digging the irony of all of this right about now. And with all due respect to Starbucks employees(I have been downsized - it sucks), but maybe if they didn't build a Starbucks on EVERY OT... MORE
"Azwethinkweiz" from the 1997 EP release "Enjoy Incubus". My son, Dylan, suggested I listen to this because there is so little "metal" in my life.( He considers them "funk metal") Now, this track I can hang with, and "Hilikus" which I will post in comments. This was an kinder, gentler Incubus and I like it.
I'm still sick but feeling better; so much that I dug out this vintage Mellow Gold era b-side to share with all my Mogger amigos. I'm still in my Beck mode and this is a personal favorite of all his non album tracks. Corvette Bummer reminds me of my dreadful corporate record store job at a mall in San Antonio. I had this asshole of a boss who had no business running a record shop. Everytime he went home, it was party time at Hastings. We'd crank out the jams and even ma... MORE
