I admit that I am a terrible slacker. I am just getting to posting this week’s…and last week’s…listenings, and I haven’t reviewed an album in weeks…so, there’s that.
This week in The Program, bendblock and I listened to two older albums. The first is the 1998 sophomore set from folk angel, Gillian Welch. The second is a live 1968 concert from Jeff Buckley’s pater-familias, Tim Buckley.
Gillian Welch: Hell Among the Yearlings
and
Tim Buckley: Dream Letter – Live In London 1968
Last week we listened to Jens Lekman’s 2005 compilation and Bright Eyes frontman, Conor Oberst’s new self-titled album.
Jens Lekman: Oh You’re So Silent Jens
and
Conor Oberst: Conor Oberst
Check back in a week or so, and we will have posted our thoughts on these two albums. If we haven’t, poke us with a sharp stick or something!

Last week in The Program, bendblock and I listened to two artists we were unfamiliar with. The first was the latest release from London based blues-punk duo, The Kills. The second was a 2004 T-Bone Burnett produced album by female singer/songwriter Sam Phillips.
The Kills: Midnight Boom
and
Sam Phillips: A Boot and a Shoe

This week in The Program, bendblock and I are listening to two new albums. The first is the new release from roots-pop powerhouse, Dr. Dog. The second is Beck’s newest effort and his last with his label.
Dr. Dog: Fate
and
Beck: Modern Guilt

nice. i'm a huge gillian fan. saw conner last week at tiny bar private show.
needless to say, i like your post!
I'm a big Gillian fan too. I was pissed when I went to the Down From The Mountain show with my dad, and she wasn't involved. She doesn't really come around these parts, so I thought I would get a chance to see her in that show. But her albums are amazing.
Conor is playing a show with Jenny Lewis in NW Arkansas in September in a small bar show. It's on a Tuesday night, so don't know if I'm going to be able to pull that off...but it sounds like fun, and Jenny sweetens the deal.
