WHERE MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY

Michael Franti & Spearhead may not have Azeem on board anymore, but the new album features new up-and-coming rebel rockers plus the Riddim Twins themselves, Sly and Robbie.  When I last wrote about the upcoming new album, All Rebel Rockers, I was swooning over the warm reggae vibe pulsing from the new "All I Want Is You" video.  And, judging from the tracklist and guest artists, I was anticipating a reggae-heavy record.  But then I heard "Remote Control" which finds Franti in a energetic hip hop mood.  (Sounds like Franti learned a thing or two on the road with Azeem for all those years!)  And, like the title hints at, Franti isn't fond of what the tellie is teaching and recommends turning it off.  It'd be cool to see Franti and Spearhead do a PSA for getting kids to turn off the tube and play outside...  Anyhow, you can preview the track right now thanks to Analog Giant, who has it streaming and available for download.

Also, I found album art finally, over on the ANTI- website:

I'm REALLY feeling this album thus far.  Can't wait for it to drop (8/18 in EU 9/9 in US), I'm definitely gonna grab a copy.

The video for "Remote Control" is almost a PSA on its own.  Check out Franti displaying both his hip hop moves and his jungle-rumbling posse:
