Bloc Party revealed details about 'Intimacy' during their first ever web chat this morning. The album was produced by Paul Epworth and Jacknife Lee, and was primarily recorded in London, England. They described the album as a mix of "wildly experimental" and "classic Bloc Party", so it looks like everyone will be a happy camper here. Can you really play that guitar ? I was (kind of) watching the brazilian MTV Awards last night , when the unfunny host (is that a rule, MTV ?) announced Bloc Party. MTV News in the UK caught up with Gruff Rhys (Neon Neon and Super Furry Animals) at the Mercury Prize Nominations Announcement ceremony and asked him about the incident between John Lydon and Kele Okereke. Rhys was present when the Sex Pistols frontman allegedly attacked the Bloc Party frontman. (Previously reported on MOG here.) Rhys told MTV:

Bloc Party will conduct their first interview of the year with fans during a webchat on Monday, August 18th. The band is expected to speak about their recent Japanese & U.S. shows, as well as upcoming shows at Reading and Leeds.

Bloc Party released silent alarm when i was 16. So my friends thought this was our album, completely defined our last years at school. As it was different from anything in england at the time. We sang it to each other everywhere, and we quoted it and we stalked the band for quite a while, my friend met the drummer in the toilets at macdonalds he was 'really really nice' ,all of us wanted Russ. The static from the speakerphone didn't help much; even as I lowered my ear closer, I could barely take notice of a full sentence strung by drummer Matt Tong. Thankfully, the recorder managed to capture each word that was crisply pronounced with a British accent. Between devouring new album Intimacy whole, and having the song "I Still Remember" on heavy rotation on the Nano, I'm totally feeling Bloc Party this week. And why wouldn't I? Click the video. My goodness! Between Kele's paintive, yearning vocals and that delicate guitar line that goes up a notch near the end, he might as well just reach in and pluck my heartstrings by hand.
