This is just too much of a coincidence. This past week I've been playing a mix sent to me by fellow mogger Ivylander and, although I'm not much of a jazz fan, one track caught my attention - by an obscure (at least, to me) jazz vocalist named Blossom Dearie - from the 1950s-60s. A couple of nights ago I was reading the latest MOJO and was surprised to find a one-page article about her written by the female member of the duo Everything But The Girl. So now I'm intrigued... This is a post from my Myspace blog. Which I may parallel from time to time. I know this LP has it's share of mentions in the MOGosphere. (Just needed to note that!) "Everyone has their "spring collection" when it comes to music. Some like the pop punk because of the energy in the air, some like more folksy things that merge with nature's born again frolic. I love Blossom Dearie. She is my favorite tiny voiced singer/songwriter/pianist. A lot of you might recognize her for her contributions to School House Rock. "Unpack Your Adjectives" is the best one she did in my book. She was born in 1928 in Durham, New York. There's so much history and information on her on the web.
