I chose this prompt because, coincidentally, I just had my pocket vacuumed. Can I say, it was majestical?

Blog post image preview Yesterday, I was having lunch at a vegetarian restaurant on La Cienega in West Hollywood with two friends. One of the guys – the actor who recommended the place - noticed the actress Amy Smart at a nearby table, and struck up a conversation with her about Pilates or diet or an acting coach they both knew. I’m not sure, since I wasn’t eavesdropping. Sure, I often admire Ms. Smart’s work, and I think she’s cute. Still, it was no big deal that she was in conversation with my ... MORE

Blog post image preview At this point we are well used to models converting to acting or posing as a TV spokesperson. However, it is typically more painful when models try to sing. Something about matching pitch, tone, and still smiling and strutting often proves too tough for the lanky long-limbed leopards in leotards.
BUT word is Aggy will triapse onstage at The Nokia Green Room this Saturday at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London - to perform her single "Who" with the 5 O’cloc... MORE

FABRIC 42: Ame brings the noise...

Fabric is the best. But I suppose you already knew that...

If you haven't caught past posts, I said that, a) I believe in Fabric as a brand and think they are a shining star of quality, b) I will post about all of their releases because of this fact. I'm not even slightly ashamed about that. There are certain labels (Astralwerks, Ghostly International, etc ) that have proved themselves as being more than a label, they are a brand that equals quality .

So, that sa... MORE

David Bowie Collaborating With Starlet On New Album

Artist:
Album: Anywhere I Lay My Head
Track: Fannin' Street
Other Tags: tom waits, scarlett johansson
Blog post image preview Turns out David Bowie is helping Woody Allen muse Scarlett Johansson on her debut music album, Anywhere I Lay My Head. Bowie lent his chops on two songs on the record - "Fannin’ Street" and "Falling Down." We can only assume the collaboration came with the help of the record's producer David Sitek. Sitek is a member of TV on the Radio, whom Bowie has plugged through the years. Billboard reports that the two met at a party where Johansson had the balls to ask Bowie to con... MORE

Blog post image preview Something I remembered when I read about the QTSA gig at Norwegian Wood this year (http://mog.com/MrFrost/blog_post/167833). Bowie makes his revenge with an extra long set (more than two hours)
Lucky it was his left eye.

Today we were watching Almost Famous OnDemand. I've had Bowie's live cover in my head since we watched the scene when William's sister, Zoey Deschanel, played the original for her mother, Frances McDormand, as the reason she was leaving home. As I heard the song, I mentioned to Michelle that I had a version by Bowie. This cover is simply Bowie's ode to America. He played this at the Concert for New York in honor of the fallen heroes on 9/11. This is one of the most uni... MORE

One of the most famous bootlegs of the Ziggy Stardust era is being re-released on CD and double vinyl (sah--weeet). This is the original Spiders from Mars line-up in mid tour sounding pretty damn good.Recorded from Bowie's gig at the Los Angeles Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 20, 1972 as part of the Ziggy Stardust tour. "In a statement to NME.COM, Bowie said of the recording: "I can tell that I'm totally into being Ziggy by this stage of our touring. It's no lo... MORE

Blog post image preview Does anyone remember this movie? Labyrinth, or as I like to call it, David Bowie tries out his hand at acting while wearing really revealing tights! As a child I loved it, but looking back I feel really sorry for the baby. Although he was exposed to some good music (well.......) as a child, those puppets probably scarred him for life.

The man with the...

(27)
I wanted to post this Bowie song just because I really love it. Not sure why but it made me think of other men songs I like. Like Robyn Hitchcock's "The Man Who Invented Himself". I noticed that there's quite a large number of "The Man With The (insert descriptive word or phrase here)" songs. I think there's probably enough for a whole mix cd. Whether or not this would be a good mix I don't know. Here's what I got so far: Robyn Hitchcock - The Man With The Lightbu... MORE

drinking milk shakes cold and long,
smiling and waving and looking so fine,
don't think you knew you were in this song.
and it was cold, and it rained,
so I felt like an actor,
and i thought of ma,
and i wanted to get back there.
your face, your race,
the way that you talk,
i kiss you, you're beautiful,
i want you to walk."

Blog post image preview A few facts about our beloved Bowie... -Born January 8, 1947 in Brixton, London as David Robert Jones to an Irish mother and English father -At age 15, was punched in the left eye by his friend, David Underwood, during a fight over a girl. Doctors operated but could not fully repair the damage, leaving his pupil permanently dilated.
