According to Wired, the American rights organisation ASCAP wants to collect royalties from the US Government for music played over and over to wear down detainees at the notorious Guantanamo Bay prison. The song of choice has been David Gray’s "Babylon", a choice about which Gray has been very upset.

I like this song for its beautiful simplicity. His live versions aren't as good because he gets all crazy and energetic. But here he keeps it foreboding and a little spooky.

I love this song, which I know probably makes me a little girlish....but I already have a girl's name, so I can deal. But my love of this song has been somewhat tainted by Joey and Pacey. I don't exactly remember when or how I heard this song, but it had been a couple of years since I had heard it, when I thought of it this summer. I have a weird taste in music and it jumps around from genre to genre, I like this song so enjoy.

While waiting for MOM to churm through my apple lossless files, I've been listening to a fantastic live show by David Gray downloaded from archive.org This is CD quality sound, at least in FLAC, and you can get true gapless playback on OSX via the freeware COG audio player This is Gray circa White Ladder, so the past two albums aren't represented, but there is some great stuff from his earlier, often overlooked, CDs, including Shine, Flame Turns Blue, and Wisdom. htt...
