In 1969, Elton John tried to commit suicide after having relationship problems with a woman he was engaged to. Bernie Taupin and Long John Baldry, who was openly gay, found him, and Baldry talked him out of marrying the woman, helping to make John more comfortable with his sexuality. The hit song "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" from Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy was written about the experience.

Sifting through the previously unreleased material on the 2 cd re-release of Tumbleweed Connection and I found I really liked this version. It has more of an edge to it than the original release, Or, it could just be this stuff I'm smoking
