I was at a house party a few weeks ago, and there was a big turntable system set up that people were taking turns spinning records on. It seems pretty exciting that Gang of Four are about to release their 1st single in 13 years. You may have already heard "Second Life" here on MOG - Michael Goldberg posted it in November - and soon you can own your own copy. The song is getting mixed reviews from critics and bloggers, though moggers seem to enjoy it. The Gang of Four are belting out a funky tune called "Love Like Anthrax" – whose chorus goes "Love will get you like a dose of anthrax/
And that is something I don’t want to catch" and I start thinking that perhaps this isn’t an appropriate message for the two teenage girls standing next to me. Another chorus goes "I’m thinking that I love you/
But I know it’s only lust", and it dawns on me, since the girls are wearing Access All Areas passes, that maybe they’re watch... MORE

Dave Allen (know to the world of Moggers as Dave Allen) quit the Gang of Four reunion along with drummer Hugo Burnham (not a Mogger, as far as I know.)

If you get a chance, come check out Gang of Four at the Download Festival on Saturday, July 19th at Shoreline Amphitheatre near SF. All the tickets are $20 and the show has The Jesus and Mary Chain, M83, Cut Copy, Datarock, RJD2, Flosstradamus, The Whigs, Tapes n Tapes and a bunch more (including Gang of Four).

Here's a track just recorded by Gang of Four. It's a demo. It's really cool. In case you're unaware, Gang of Four were one of the most important post-punk bands. Their album, Entertainment, is a masterpiece. The group has been highly influential. They regrouped in 2004 but have yet to release new studio recordings. I just discovered that Dave Allen of Gang of Four fame joined Mog July 28th, 07! Now why the hell hasn't anyone announced this or at the very least let me know? Huh, huh ,huh?
