I sauntered down to the NME Awards at the El Rey Theatre in LA last night, intent to see if it would live up to the golden hyped hype. After all, there was a red carpet and all! Original Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery hasn’t played with the band since since their 1991 Lollapalooza tour, 17 years ago. But for one-night, and one-night-only Avery will perform again with Jane’s Addiction at the first-ever U.S. NME Awards being held at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theater on April 23rd. Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins is digging through the vaults with Warner Brothers, in search of some of the band's more uncommon live recordings. He's hoping to find a quality of collection to be packaged as a collector's item box set for release sometime this year. Billboard reported Perkins as saying:

Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello was originally listed as a solo performance. Then, rumours spread like wildfire when it was changed to "Tom Morello with special guests". Of course, people thought it might refer to a RATM reunion. Quick and easy. The majority of bands/artists that were on drugs during the height of their career that have cleaned up, 9.9999 times out of 10, suck now after being "sober".New York DollsAerosmithGuns 'n' RosesLou ReedJane's Addictionand a gazillion more.
