In about a month(July 25), Metallica's debut album Kill 'Em All will celebrate it's 25th year of being on the shelves. Will more than 3 million records sold in the US alone, the album is considered more than just Bay Area metal on the map, but helped in part make metal a worldwide household name.

Am I the last person on earth that hasn't been sucked into the wildly addictive "Guitar Hero" craze?
Following in the steps of Aerosmith, Metallica will receive their version of the popular music video game. There's no word yet on which specific songs will be included, but the group certainly has tons of material to choose from. Metallica took to the stage amidst resounding cheers last night (Wednesday, May 14) at Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Below, fan filmed footage of the sold out 2,200 seat venue. The clips gives us a good look at this much smaller, exclusive performance.
I know what you're thinking (it's what most people think) 'come on Sturg, Metllica should have broken up 10-15-20 years ago, this post is lame.'

Metallica, the band that lead the fight to kill Napster (which lead to 10 years of the major labels actively fighting against the digital revolution, which lead to the death of the music industry as we knew it from the 70s to the 90s -- not necessarily a bad thing), is now considering doing what Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails have done: releasing their new album digitally and allowing customers (who they used to loudly refer to as thieves) to decide how much to pay for it.

The days of record store are numbered. Slowly, but surely they're giving way to the looming horizon of the ring-tone market, itunes and other less tangible commodities.

If you want to be the first on your block (or on MOG) to hear the upcoming new Metallica album, you should check out the band's new website, MissionMetallica.com. According to NME, Metallica have promised to let fans "experience the new album before it's done". Meanwhile, the as-yet-untitled album is being recorded with Rick Rubin in L.A. and is anticipated for release in September.
