Good luck with that one. I don't know, everybody's calling the new MMJ some kind of nouveau type of soul or R&B, but here's my thing. It's like Nashville Skyline era Bob Dylan meets Kermit the Frog on the voca, and Nashville circa 1978 for the music. Maybe it's just me.
When I first got MMJ's Evil Urges, I was nervous for the band. I didn't like. I thought it was weird - Jim James going all R&B on tracks like "Highly Suspicious." Didn't like it as much as I did wh... MORE

Enough hair to shake a Motley Crue reunion at, enough volume to make my ears ring.... this collection is missing absolutely nada. You've got to check out MMJ's 2006 concert DVD Okonokos [which is free on Concert.tv On Demand this month by-the-way]. Rarely will music DVD's hold my attention for more than a couple of tracks, but with some elaborate set designs and intriguing [not annoying] camera angles, this DVD has me blown. Go to your cable box tonight, or try: htt... MORE
God I love Archive.org and all of those kind people that leave the goods on there....

Well, I have been wearing a groove in MMJ's new disc. Not sure you can still stay that since it really applied to the vinyl days but you get the point. I was a late comer to the MMJ party wagon. My wife on the other hand was into them immediately. We saw them open for Joe Henry in a small bar called Phoenix Hill here in Louisville right as a small buzz was being generated about MMJ. We were there to see Joe Henry and as this hippy band with the really hairy lead singer ra... MORE
White women cant dance. At least not to MMJ. They are a total buzz kill. When a woman goes from a quasi- chicken dance to rollin some dice to doin the come hither gesture with her hands to doing look Im casting a spell on you movements, all within the same song, its a REAL problem. Bromances abounded last night too, hugs between straight guys that were way too huggy, fist pumps and finger pointing to the sky as BushCo had finally been impeached...man I might be getting old... Duuuuude....I am sp psyched for tonight. It's the best start to a weekend! I've got fourteenth row to see My Morning Jacket at Radio City Music Hall. At first I didn't think it was a big deal. I've been following these guys since they played the dinky stage at Austin Music Festival in 2003. Then the show, announced months ago, sold out. Seeing MMJ at the monolith Radio City Music Hall is going to be off the hizoook! It's almost a right of passage. Last time I went to a... MORE
The Fix Extended Play brings you a 360 degree look at My Morning Jacket to celebrate the release of their new album, "Evil Urges." Throughout the show we take you behind the scenes, on the road, and in the studio with MMJ during the making of this new album. We check in with co-producer of the album, Joe Chicarrelli, to hear what it was like for him to work with the band. Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave, a band that has previously opened for MMJ, guest hosts the Daily Fix to talk... MORE
For those of you who could not make it to My Morning Jacket's show in Bonnaroo (aka Amsterdam), i'm sorry to say that you missed out. It was the most surprising and incredible night of my life. First off i want to say that during the entire show i was trying to guess what song would come on next and everytime i was wrong! Usually i get a couple right. But damn they got me good. They definitely kicked off their American tour with a bang. Songs i havent heard and so... MORE
