Winter is not far away now and just to add to the pleasure it is raining as well. It looks like a good weekend to curl up on the couch and listen to some music-maybe even crank up the turntable and transfer some vinyl to hard drive-as soon as i get my head around the technicalities of this idea. Anyway for a winter song i couldn't go past Neil-Not sure where this came from but i like it
I picked up this album last week and I still can't get it out of my head. I didn't get it back when it came out a few years ago because it got mixed reviews, but listening to it now it's absolutely amazing to me. I could see where the long drawn out songs and sometimes rambling narrative could be a turn off for some, but I guess it suits me just right. The music is really really good.
This is one of the softer, and best, moments of the album:
Just spent $60 on albums today at the local record store (am I the only younger dude that buys music anymore?), and i've been spending the day just sitting and listening to each of the six albums I happened to buy (two Grateful Dead, one El-P, one Mos Def, one Bob Marley, and a certain Neil Young album.)
I put Rust Never Sleeps into my stereo and sat back, and there it was.
I can't really explain what it is about My, My, Hey, Hey, but it just cuts me down to a level ... MORE

I hate the heat so I'm wasting air-conditioned hours making compilation CDs. Just finished a Neil Young 4 CD comp, and re-acquainted myself with the song "Inca Queen" from 1987's LIFE (I had the cassette when I was a wee one). It is an 80's album with 80's keyboards, mind you, but I think this is one of NY's most beautiful songs. It's a bit lengthy, but see what you think.
I really like Neil Young. A lot. But let's face it. He releases some really crappy stuff on occassion. The good part is that his catalog contains some of the finest recordings of the rock era. Albums like After the Gold Rush, Harvest, Rust Never Sleeps, Everybody Know This Is Nowhere... really great stuff. I love the Live Rust CD from that 78 tour. Neil and Crazy Horse at the top of their game. Here are a few clips from that show. After The Gold Rush... Cort... MORE
Neil Young and Crazy Horse with support act Lucinda Williams at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY, on June 26, 2003. I loved this show, from the minute Lucinda Williams walked on to the minute the Horse walked off. Greendale was classic, audacious Neil Young - almost like a high school musical in terms of production values and subtlety (or lack thereof!). I approve. The set list - Greendale: 1. Falling From Above 2. Double E 3. Devil's Sidewalk 4. Leave The D... MORE
With the exception of "Wonderin'" this is the best live Neil since "Weld". Oddly enough it contains the same version of "Come on Baby Let's go Downtown" that appears on "Tonight's the Night". Albeit with some editing. The 15 minute "Cowgirl in the Sand" is worth the price of admission, plus a rough "Winterlong" make for a great snapshot of the "Horse" in action
OH AND FYE, DEADMANS COMPUTER IS DOWN, BUT I'M SURE YOU'LL HEAR FROM HIM AGAIN SOON
"Country Home" - I have no idea whether that title's correct but the song always touches my heart when I turn it up to get the full effect of those jangly-guitar sounds, and gaze out upon the forest that surrounds my country home. Speaking of titles, however, um - Neil? We love you, but "Prairie Wind" touches the Vulgarity-Appreciation section of our funnybones and makes us giggle! (because we're Canadian, or despite it?, who knows)
i am planning a trip overseas and want to take an mp3 player, however there are a few conditions. It would preferably take an SD card(digital camera style)so a friend can send me music from home. Also must not have to be charged through a computer. Has anyone had any experience with the iriver x20. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks all. Neil Young still rocks.
