Almost forgot that we had tix for the show and raced out at the last minute!
So glad we made it there. The Old 97s played a wonderful wonderful amazing show. They played a nice number of their newest songs and lots of their older classics. The entire band with leader singer cutie patootie man Rhett had incredible energy and enthusiasm. They came back with multiple enthusiastic encores. New West records is doing a great job of keeping some of my favorites front and center -- case in point is the new Old 97's CD. There should be a special place in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame for Rhett and the boys.

Old 97's have always been a band my friends were into. For me, their music was alright and I've enjoyed listening to it in friends' cars and all, but I never felt the need to really listen to it on my own. I'm not sure why - it's catchy and energetic and reasonably clever - it just never clicked with me.
But today I just cannot stop listening to "Time Bomb" over and over again. It's so frantic. And that chorus is great: "Oh Celeste... Oh Cel-ey-ey-ey-ey-este!!" And I lov... MORE

My wonderful grandmother is dying, and I've been watching. Not in a morbid sense, but in the sense that I want to gather every detail I can before it's too late. I want to watch her face, look in her eyes, try to find my own face somewhere in there. I listen to her moan and mumble in her semi-coherent state, and I wonder how her voice must have sounded when she was my age. (I imagine it was very smooth with a slight southern lilt.) Okay... so I've been on this site for about six months and just today randomly checked back and noticed they've acquired a good 20,000+ users (I made that up, don't listen to me, I have no idea) since my last visit. A lot of new people!
Alas I have revamped my MOG and it's a little swankier now. Still working on it.
La la la.

I don't know about you guys, but being around my family puts me on edge. I'm sort of the family weirdo, and they treat me accordingly. God, these people make me so tense. I try to speak as little as possible around them in hopes of keeping attention away from me. It doesn't work. They always want to know if I've come around and become one of them.
And now I'm home, having a drink and listening to the Old 97's. I find myself bobbing my head to the beat as I write this, an... MORE
