What a difference a day makes. Last night's performance earns an exactly opposite review. In addition to an amazing setlist, Corgan and the rest of the band acted as they normally do -- appreciate of the crowd, thoughtful, thankful, and grateful. Much like last year's Orpheum performance, last night ranks as one of my all time favorite concerts of any band. I was left in awe as expected, but also shocked because of the rarity of some set list elements. I told my show-mat... MORE
A Smashing Pumpkins reunion with the band's original line-up is not looking good, folks. (Sorry Gish fans). Yesterday former and founding members of the alternative rock band -- James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky-Brown -- slapped Virgin Records with a lawsuit, claiming they were overlooked in royalties for music downloads and other digital media (I'm thinking ringtones and etc). They are demanding a jury trial for issues regarding breach of contract, breach of implied coven... MORE
So, if there are any pumpkinheads out there you are well aware of these going-ons, but for those who are not, this past Thursday and Friday the Smashing Pumpkins had a one-off screening of their latest DVD release, If All Goes Wrong, in various, but specific, theaters in various places. The DVD is a 2-disc set comprising a documentary tracing the band's history and an entire live performance of one of their Fillmore residency shows back in 2007. The DVD is still in pre-or... MORE
While they fight for artistic integrity and fall more and more into 1990's obscurity, the Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they will be heading out on a intimate August run and a not so intimate 20th Anniversary tour in November. The tours will sort of serve as a warm-up to that Gish tour everyone has been hoping for, which has now been pushed back to early 2009.
While the intimate August run "will be for fun" according to the band, November's shows will hit larger v... MORE

Smashing Pumpkins - Beautiful from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
I expected to be writing a favorable and perhaps glowing review of the first of two Smashing Pumpkins shows, but there's just no way I can write something like that right now. Sure, they played Tonight, Tonight, but that song is hardly able to hold my opinion high after last night's end of show antics. I have a major problem with any artist who feels entitled to throw their fame back in your face. Like most, I understand that being a well-known figure changes the structu... MORE

The video for the hit Smashing Pumpkins Guitar Hero: World Tour exclusive song "G.L.O.W." made its debut today. Pretty ironic that a song that was supposed to debut on Guitar Hero: World Tour has been on sale at iTunes for a few weeks now and has an official video before it’s even been released in [...]

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot that was published today, Billy Corgan shares his thoughts on the new Smashing Pumpkins, what he’s learned since their reunion in 2007, and much more. On why he broke up the Pumpkins in 2000: "The real story was [James] Iha was driving me out of my mind. [...]
