I know I am late, but I am trying to update my Mog page with some of my past external blog posts. I know, I know. I will hurry up and get through the rest. Even I am irritated by the untimeliness. Recently I finished one of the most bizarre books by one of the most bizarre authors I've ever read. Rant by Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, etc) takes out a mixing bowl and tosses in chunks of 1984, bits of "The Matrix," a smidgeon of "Back to the Future," and a dash of "28 Days Later," to finally provide truly inspired bits of real insanity, so much so that there are probably about 5302 different conclusions the reader can come to after the last page has been turned. Anyone whose a fan of The Hold Steady or Band of Horses should be sure to check out Ted Leo & The Pharmacists. They take the Indie Rock sound and inject it with a every other genre under the sun. I am a huge Ted Leo fan. I love Shake the Sheets more than almost every other album in my music collection. Hearts of Oak and Tyranny of Distance get me excited beyond belief. I recently received all of Ted Leo's earlier work both with the Pharmacists and with Chisel and love almost every song on every single album. Even though I pretend to be an adult, mature and professional member of society, there are times when my true being comes through. Last night my band of scurvy friends and I went to see Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at the Showbox in Seattle. And on a work night! Okay okay, so I know that MOG is about music and everything, and I'm sure the rest of you out there are probably sick and tired of hearing from Red Sox fans (I know I am sick of about half of them), but today is Opening Day at Fenway Park, and even though it's a steamy 41 degrees out [here] right now... our beloved Red Sox take the field at 2:05. Well, I haven't gotten ALL my tickets I've expected, but April and May are shaping up nicely. I'll begin with Sean Nelson (of Harvey Danger) and move on to The Long Winters, Ted Leo/RX, Mute Math, Rocky Votolato and then in May comes The Decemberists, Ben Gibbard solo, and MCR/Muse.
This almost, ALMOST, makes up for me having to miss the Sasquatch Music Festival Memorial Day weekend. Stupid niece getting stupid married. sigh...

Last night, I got Ted Leo & The Pharmacists new album "Living with the Living" and of course I love it. Everyone should go out and get it soon if you like Ted Leo & The Pharmacists. The first pressing of the CD comes with a bonus EP "Mo' Living".
