Check out this bouncy pop duo from England: The Ting Tings.
I first heard them via their song "That's Not My Name." It's odd though, because I have a deja-vu feeling when listening, but am unable to pick out where I might have heard the song before. Is this song a cover? If someone knows do tell.
Regardless, this is definitely one of those songs with that irresistable, catchy beat. I would suspect that one would have to put forth undue effort in order to dislike... MORE

The ad execs who do those Ipod commercials are amazing at finding infectious, slightly below the radar songs. Usually I have heard the songs BEFORE seeing the commercial...but not with this one...so I guess I should thank Steve Jobs.

A few weeks ago a friend of mine was over and we kicking it till about 2am, whooping it up with some great beer and a lot of questionable music. We stumbled onto a Ting Tings video for the song Great DJ. It was a nice change of pace from all the gangster rap that MTV was peddling at that wee hour.

Heard the Ting Tings for the first time on KCRW here in LA and I boogie every time I hear this track. So darn catchy! maybe because it's easy to sing along with a chorus that is monosyllabic. And yet, somehow it's smart.
There are a few very danceable remixes floating around for this song also, equally contagious and head-bob inducing. haven't caught them live yet but am amazed to hear that they perform as a duo and put on a relentlessly entertaining live show.

The Ting Tings started playing together less than 6 months ago, and they have already made quite a buzz for themselves in England. They have a limited edition 7″ single out on Switchflicker records now, and the record shops are using several interesting references to describe the music.
