's Here's Wilco doing a great cover of Big Star's Thirteen. Now here's Elliot Smith putting his spin on it: Now here's a more recent version by the current line up of Big Star:
i apologize. i should have posted this about a month ago. must remember: blog to mog, blog to mog Wednesday, March 05, 2008 well, i went to the wilco show on monday at the mobile civic center theater. john doe opened for them. damn, i haven't heard anything from that guy since he was in X. they played well. closed his set with a guest appearance from (guitar genius and wilco six stringer) nels cline. they ripped into a kick ass cover of the Rolling Stones "Gimmie Shelt... I've been dabbling in Wilco for some time now, but for some reason it is just not clicking with me. I've heard nothing but good things about this band, so I have to ask.. Is this some kind of acquired taste? Just trying to give it a fair shot.
In case you missed it, Wilco was the guest band on Saturday Night Live last week. The videos don't last long on youTube, so it's actually quite difficult to find online. Thanks to MuzzleOfBees I found this more stable video:

You can hear John Doe too.
I suggest heading to npr.org right now to check out Wilco's show streaming live from Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club. I have not experienced that feeling in a long while. My friend Bryan said it best, "sonic bliss". I have not been on the Wilco train since the beginning but I am now glad to have a seat o... MORE
Sunday, 4pm I'm just waking up from a lazy afternoon nap, as I sit down at the 'puter a post goes up; "Wilco, New Haven, tonight, I have one extra ticket", huh, Susan's sick in bed and I haven't been to a show in what seems like ages. I go to the post and it's Jameson, my Mog buddy from Providence that I've never met face to face but have repeatedly promised each other that we'd hook up for a show sooner or later. So Jameson is trying to talk Cody into coming up from NY fo... MORE
The new Wilco Album Sky Blue Sky is fantastic. I've only been into these guys for a few years mostly because my ear wasn't developed enough for their earlier stuff... wasn't into the twang rock. Now I love it. But what pulled me in was their Ghost is Born album and their live show. The live experience for me is the most powerful and these guys are great to see. They jam out the tunes and the band is friggin amazing. The new album is almost all good tunes but here is one fa... MORE
