Everyone who is cool has probably already seen these videos, but I was just introduced to them this weekend.
I present...."Take on Me" and "Head Over Heels"....Literally.

Every so often a video comes along - be it Boom Goes the Dynamite or The Hardy Boys: Mystery of the Mobile, AL Leprechaun - that scrambles your wig forever. This is not one of those videos, nor does it provide any updates on the Ball State women's softball team, but it certainly belongs in the deepest annals of excellence.

I'm gonna go waaaaay back for this one.
Everybody loves "Take On Me". "The Sun Always Shines On TV" was pretty sweet too. The musical geniuses behind these smash hits were Norway's a-ha.
I know the band had a small renaissance in the 1990's but really, they haven't been much of a factor since 1984.
So whatever happened to a-ha?
While I have you pondering that, check out what could be the greatest music video ever made:

You betcha. This week for GMM we have only one song. But it’s been so far overlooked that it’s worth it. A-ha’s 1985 smash hit "Take On Me" is iconic of the decade. Cheesy synths, vocal hooks. Not to mention the video. Take a look, and listen below. A-ha - Take On Me

I'm loving the mashups and want to try my hand. http://www.jamglue.com/ has come to my attention via Scoble. Is anyone using this yet? Got any results to share? Is there something better out there?

So on the heels of what I thought to be a hilarious musing of my own, I thought I'd provide you with a few more because, well, that's how I spend my time at work. So, enjoy these: Cocoa Pebbles would make a wicked name for a Post Rock band. If I was a gay rapper, I'd call myself Fresh Fruit. A-Ha + Frank Sinatra = My Way or Norway? Ok, that's all I've got. But I also thought up another, more pressing question: What the hell happened to Eiffel 65?? I'm sure I could Wik... MORE
Yup... Still get chills everytime I listen to this song... hadn't a clue there was a video for it... can I get a _"Wha Wha"_ for YouTube ?
I think I wore through three tapes of Hunting High & Low !!! a-Ha weren't my favorite band but... something about their ethereal voices, the keys & the fantastical lyrics/videos... it always felt like I was in the middle of a fairytale when I listened to them & what girl _doesn't_ want a fairytale of her very own ???? :)

So instead, after another long, tedious work week, I need a little humor, so I've gotta post one of my favorite videos of all time and the hilarious rendition that Family Guy did a while back...
A-Ha's version:
And Family Guy's version:
Hope everyone has a good weekend...
What about all the other songs that a-Ha have recorded?
I mean ok so Take on Me is a great track but what about the rest of their discography? What about their new album?
I, for one think it is very good, eventhough it sounds nothing like Take On Me.
I find it so unfair for a band that has evolved so much, to just judge them on just one single track.
Ok, so I just got the latest version of iTunes. The problem is, instead of placing artists that start with numbers and characters near the front, they're now at the very back of the library.
What does this mean? This means that now, whenever I open iTunes, this is the first thing I see on their coverflow feature:
So, I'm not just going to ask for artist recommendations today.
GIVE ME ONLY ARTISTS THAT START WITH THE LETTER A!!!!
Yep, it's my third post (second today, in fact) and already I'm working in superlatives. This is one of many reasons why my wife thinks I'm strange (musically). I absolutely hate the idea of depending solely on commercial radio for music. That's not to say I hate bands who go commercial (like at least one guy I went to college with), in fact the opposite is true - if I've been pimping a band among my friends and anyone else who'll listen and all of a sudden I hear them o...
