What happens when Philly's The Roots stumble upon a mushroom patch in a cow pasture???
I believe the song is titled "Love My Family"
Holy shizznit, M.I.A. is havin a baby! I'd heard the rumours months ago, but forgot all about it coz I thought they were just rumours. But, apparently she's talkin about it now. Can you imagine how incredibly sweet it would be to have Maya as yer mum? A homegrown revolutionary with a uber-famous goddess for a mum?! I'm almost jealous! Anyway, I found out from AtariCoolKids who seems to have heard it from Spin Magazine. (there's so much killer content in MMN, I'm ser... MORE

In just a few short years, Kanye West has unquestionably produced the most creative videos in hip hop music. His active approach to not doing the same thing over and over and over has resulted in a wide range of clips for our enjoyment. Everything from gritty street traditional hip hop videos, avant-garde artsy fartsy clips, and multiple types of animation have been employed. Lets take a look at his best work:

So happy Q-Tip is back in the spotlight. Actually he was never really gone. It was just the damn record companies he was with who wouldn't release his albums because they thought they were subpar. Christ, record companies suck a big one!
Anyway, here's Q on David Letterman 11/06/08 with a great performance(found on okayplayer.com):
Q looks like he's having a blast & why shouldn't he, he's experiencing his own justified renaissance! Go on Q, work that thang!
There probably aren't too many college radio stations that don't have a hip hop radio show these days, but when I was in school ('82-86..well, I was in school 'til '84,but I had a radio show 'til '86), they weren't quite as common..especially in Minnesota. Back then I was MC CB and partnered with my buddy DJ K, we helmed the FRESHow.. We devoured everything we could find about hip hop: muddy mixtapes from a kid we knew from The Bronx, the steadily growing stream of 12" re... MORE
As 7PM eastern time looms in the near future and the first polling stations start tallying up the results of this most important election in our nation's history in along while. Today as CNN put it, is history in the making where Democrat Barack Obama could become the first African-American president, Republican John McCain could become the oldest president elected to a first term, Sarah Palin could become the first woman elected vice president. So, it's a little hard to t... MORE
Forgive me for posting this, but I got such a good laugh out of it, I almost feel obligated to pass the chuckles along. Seems we all could use them as of late. As is the case with all humor--what makes something funny is an identifiable level of truth to it. Take notice how closely the choreography here resembles that in mainstream rap videos. Thus, hilarity ensues. Someone spent a fair amount of time editing this to make the music sync with the dancing. I applaud his/he... MORE

"Arab Money" by Busta Rhymes has quickly become a favorite in the clubs. The track was produced by Ron Browz, who has another hit song out "Pop Champagne". The track has been so popular that it has even developed it's own dance (Check the video below).

No this is not a post about Blur, although now that I think about it I might have to listen to them on my drive into work tomorrow. No, this would be the second song that is going to go onto my annual Christmas Mix and I promised myself I would do 10 of these. No order in particular, but they all are songs I had not heard until this year. This cut comes off of the newest album from Atmosphere. This was an album I had been waiting for, and once I got it I was not disappoin... MORE
Yesterday MMN's Pigeons And Planes posted the new M.I.A. video for the "retired" star's new track "Shells." But what P&P failed to mention was that the preggo M.I.A. is not in the video since she is about 6 months along with her little bundle of joy and is well, still technically retired -- despite that Brooklyn appearance and the EP How Many Votes Fix Mix, which features "Shells", she released in October. The "Shells" video, apart from the dog-on-dog action, is a w... MORE
Energy and a hungry bit of delivery, like someone wants to eat up the reel to reel: that is pretty fresh. Also a somewhat sick sense of humor, a dark imagination and ingenius verses help.

XXL Mag just came out with their year-end Love/Hate issue. One of the many categories is "videos." As a public service, I wanted to put you all up on the list of Top 5 vids the staff peeped in '08.

Naztradamas got the ill footage from the car show this past Sunday. I didn't get a chance to make it out there, but more than a few people say that Z-Ro was the truth at the show. Check for these two Houston hard-hitters as they perform "If That's How You Feel" and "You're Everything."
