Album: Rock 'N' Roll Animal

Am I ever glad this one's over. I spent last Saturday and Sunday in bed with the stomache flu. Ruined my long weekend. Then spent all week dragging my ass at work, even made a couple of mistakes on the job which, while not critical, made me feel like a bonehead. Had to turn down every opportunity for socializing 'cause I couldn't keep much food down (let alone liquor). Needless to say, I need some rock'n'roll to kickstart this tired, listless ass.

Rock 'N Roll Animal is one of my favourite LP by Lou.

Here's Zeitkratzer's orchestral arrangement for Metal Machine Music to help you get on with the weekend:

Wow, I've never seen that before. Now I know what an orchestral arrangement of white noise sounds like. Thanks. I just dug through my collection of vinyl and realized I've still got Metal Machine Music here. One day, I'll have to pull it out and give it a spin - for a second or two, anyway.

Velvet Underground-Rock n' Roll

I enjoy Reed's for-the-masses live set, but it's sometimes difficult for me to assimilate the authenticity. College friends who only knew him from "Walk On The Wild Side" were suddenly gushing with praise for this set, which sounded to me like a bit of an extension on the recently soloed Alice Cooper (same backing band). Not that that's bad in any way, Lou's a good businessman and these are great musicians, but it's a bit of a homogenous stew. I remember the rather palpable angst from slipping on Metal Machine Music for the first time. I some ways, this recording is like the flip side of that venture. Still, a good step back to moving your feet a bit faster!!

Thanks P. I love the VU, but Rock'n'Roll Animal is still my favourite live album. (Next month will be so much better, won't it?)
