I have heard Jack speak about why he keeps The White Stripes going...simply put, Meg is untainted and malleable. She does what she's told to do. I can't imagine there is a lot of artistic conflict in that relationship.

Interesting to learn annieander. She doesn't seem to be the type to just roll over and obey orders, but I guess if she's never been given the chance to express herself artistically (not that I know for a fact she hasn't, it's just a hunch) she wouldn't know any better than to just follow Jack's whims.

I know from being in a band, that creative control is empowering. For the first four years my band operated as a dictatorship in which I wrote all the music. Now the band has undergone changes and it's all a collaborative answer.

Now knowing why Jack White keeps The White Stripes going, I fully understand his reasoning. Still, I can't help but notice that the Raconteurs rarely have a miss, whereas The White Stripes leave a lot to be desired (for me anyway).

I really like both The White Stripes and The Raconteurs and also Jack's solo projects.

I find very interesting the personality of both bands, you know... I think that's why they both still exist and they are successful.

It's not a secret for anybody that Jack White is one of the best musicians right now, but I believe bands still need some marketing, the image is very important in a band, something like the attitude.

The White Stripes is a great band, maybe not as aleborated as the Raconteurs, but great and what makes them as big as they are is the image they project, which you could never classify into one only genre... and then appears The Raconteurs, much more elaborated in the musical terms but with a complete different image to project, more like "mature", serious, I don't know if you get my point...

But what I mean on Jack White's two projects is that the valuable thing about the two bands falls on him, on his versatility and capacity to reinvent himself as a musician. That's why I believe that we will still have both White Stripes and Raconteurs for many many more years... and still being awesome on every new record.

I'm afraid he might spread himself too thin. If that happens I'll be very upset if he quits The Raconteurs.
